Three family members commit suicide in Andhra Pradesh

Three members of a family died by suicide in Andhra Pradesh’s YSR (Kadapa) district after alleged tampering of their land record by local revenue officials. Subba Rao (47), a weaver, his wife and daughter were unable to sell their land due to changes in the official record. The tragic incident took place in Kotha Madhavaram in Vontimitta mandal on Saturday.

The deceased, Padmavathi (41) and her daughter Vinay (17), were found hanging at their house, while Subba Rao took his own life by jumping under a train in the same village. A suicide note was discovered by the police, in which Subba Rao mentioned that the family was distressed over the inability to sell their land after the ownership was altered in the official records. He accused revenue officials of cheating them and stated that they had no choice but to end their lives.

The police have shifted the bodies for autopsy and have initiated an investigation into the matter. This unfortunate incident has shocked the local community and raised questions about the integrity of land records and the actions of revenue officials in the region. The authorities are expected to conduct a thorough inquiry to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic event and to ensure that justice is served for the deceased family.

This incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of maintaining accurate and transparent land records to prevent such tragic outcomes. The loss of three lives due to alleged malpractice and negligence in the administration of land records highlights the need for accountability and reforms in the system to prevent similar incidents in the future. The community mourns the untimely demise of the family and calls for swift action to address the issues that led to this heartbreaking incident.
