Three family members commit suicide in Andhra Pradesh
Three members of a family died by suicide in Andhra Pradesh’s YSR (Kadapa) district after alleged tampering of their land record by local revenue officials. Subba Rao (47), a weaver, his wife and daughter were unable to sell their land due to changes in the official record. The tragic incident took place in Kotha Madhavaram in Vontimitta mandal on Saturday.
The deceased, Padmavathi (41) and her daughter Vinay (17), were found hanging at their house, while Subba Rao took his own life by jumping under a train in the same village. A suicide note was discovered by the police, in which Subba Rao mentioned that the family was distressed over the inability to sell their land after the ownership was altered in the official records. He accused revenue officials of cheating them and stated that they had no choice but to end their lives.
The police have shifted the bodies for autopsy and have initiated an investigation into the matter.
