Three individuals detained in relation to Bangladesh building fire

Three people have been arrested in connection with the Bangladesh building fire that resulted in 46 fatalities. The arrested individuals are the owners of Chumuk eatery and the manager of Kacchi Bhai restaurant, as reported by Dhaka Tribune.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Additional Commissioner Kh Mahid Uddin addressed the media on Friday evening, confirming that the fire originated at a food shop on the building’s ground floor on Thursday. A case will be filed for negligence related to the tragic deaths.

If the victims’ families wish to do so, they can file a case, as stated by Commissioner Uddin. Legal action will be taken against those found guilty, including the building owners, in case of any negligence. Everyone is urged to prioritize safety in their activities.

Bangladesh’s President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed condolences for the lives lost and property damaged in the fire incident. Additionally, Dhaka Additional Deputy Commissioner AKM Hedayetul Islam mentioned that financial assistance of Tk25,000 has been provided to families of the deceased who are financially struggling.

A total of 70 individuals, with 42 in an unconscious state, were rescued from different locations within the building, including the rooftop. Authorities are thoroughly investigating the incident to ensure accountability for the tragic loss of lives and property.
