After a long wait, the Democratic Party’s Presidential candidate Kamala Harris has finally revealed her running mate, Tim Walz.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz made his first public appearance on Tuesday and targeted his Republican rival JD Vance, using Vance’s couch joke.
Tim Walz, along with Kamala Harris, addressed the crowd at Temple University’s Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on August 6, 2024.
It was the first day of their ‘Battleground State Tour.’
Kamala Harris introduced her VP candidate Walz at Temple University’s Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and received thunderous applause.
Highlighting the achievements of her running mate, Harris said,
‘He really does shine a light on a brighter future that we can build together,’ she asserted on the first day of their ‘Battleground State Tour.’
Harris also reminded her audience of the ‘battle-tested leader’ Walz. She added that he has an incredible track record of getting things done for people residing in Minnesota.
Walz, for his part, stated that with all the love and applause, it is an honour to serve as Harris’s running mate.
Walz also stated that he could not wait to debate Vance.
Walz has been locking horns with Trump and his team and labelled Donald Trump and his VP candidate Vance as ‘weird.’
Walz zeroed in on the Ohio Senator and said,
‘Like all regular people I grew up with in the heartland, JD studied at Yale, had his career funded by Silicon Valley billionaires, and then wrote a bestseller trashing that community,’
With Kamala Harris at his side, Walz added,
‘Come on, that’s not what Middle America is,’
Tim Walz cracks JD Vance Couch Joke
Walz could not hide his eagerness to debate Vance and he quipped,
‘I’ve got to tell you, I can’t wait to debate the guy … that is if he’s willing to get off the couch and show up. See what I did there?’
Walz also touched upon an online hoax that purportedly stated Vance included an X-rated anecdote about a couch in his 2016 memoir ‘Hillbilly Elegy.’
The crowd loved the joke, but Walz did not stop there.
Walz went on to characterize Trump as ‘creepy’ and ‘yes, just weird as hell.’
However, Harris did acknowledge what her team is pitted against and stated,
‘It is like a match-up between the varsity team and the JV squad. We are the underdogs in this race, but we have the momentum, and I know exactly what we are up against.’
She also labelled Trump as a predator, scammer, and offender.
