MAGA Supporter Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s ‘Island of Garbage’ Puerto Rico Comments Spark Backlash

Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe is facing heat after his inappropriate choice of words at a Republican Party Presidential nominee Donald Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden in NYC.

The incident has drawn widespread criticism from a broad section of the American populace.

The rally, attended by over 20,000 supporters, was held at Madison Square Garden to cheer for the former US President.

With just nine days until the elections, it was a high-profile event.

Tony Hinchcliffe Faces Backlash for Calling Puerto Rico an ‘Island of Garbage’

However, things took an ugly turn when MAGA comedian Tony Hinchcliffe addressed the rally, sparking a massive backlash on the internet on Sunday, October 27.

“These Latinos, they love making babies.”

The “Kill Tony” podcast host started well when he addressed the Republican Party as a party with a good sense of humour.

However, Tony Hinchcliffe soon went ballistic when he talked about Latinos and Puerto Ricans and stated,

“I welcome migrants to the United States with open arms and by open arms, I mean like this,”

He then signalled a no with his hand gestures.

Tony Hinchcliffe added,

“It’s wild, and these Latinos love making babies too, just know that — they don’t do that. They come inside, just like they did to our country. Republicans are the party with a good sense of humor.”

He followed it with another joke filled with gall about Puerto Rico,

“There’s a lot going on. There’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico.”

There were instances in his speech when he derided and compared the Democratic Party to a Diddy’s party.

Tony Hinchcliffe also pointed out how celebrities are endorsing Democratic Party nominee Kamala Harris and said,

“I don’t know about you guys, but I think Travis Kelce might be the next OJ Simpson,” he said at one point.

“Every day, the Democrat Party looks more like a Diddy Party. Oh okay, I see what you guys want.”

He also made fun of the black community and stated that they are carving watermelons for Halloween.

Kamala Harris wooing the Puerto Rican Community

Tony Hinchcliffe’s distasteful remarks came in the backdrop of Kamala Harris wooing the Puerto Rican population in Philadelphia.

Kamala also took potshots at Donald Trump in a video message addressed to the Puerto Rican voters and stated,

“I will never forget what Donald Trump did and what he did not do when Puerto Rico needed a caring and competent leader.”

Kamala also got the endorsement of prominent entertainers with a Latin background, Jennifer Lopez and Ricky Martin.

The official ‘Kamala HQ’ X/Twitter page also posted a split-screen image of Hinchcliffe’s tirade against the Latino community and Kamala’s Puerto Rico-focused commentaries.

Kamal’s running mate Tim Walz, who in a Twitch gaming session with Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez also condemned the comedian for his words and labeled him as an ‘Ar***hole’

Walz fumed,

“When you have some a-hole calling Puerto Rico ‘floating garbage,’ know that that’s what they think about you. It’s what they think about anyone who makes less money than them… I want every Puerto Rican in Philadelphia and Reading and across the country to see this clip.”

Other Democrats (and some Republicans) also joined Walz in deriding the comedian, and AOC posted on her X handle,

“You’re opening for Trump by calling Puerto Rico a floating pile of garbage. 4,000+ Puerto Ricans died under him. This isn’t the comedy store. You’re using your set to boost neo-Nazis like MTG & stripping women’s rights to the Stone Age. Your ‘sense of humor’ doesn’t change that.”

However, after the backlash, Tony Hinchcliffe tried to explain the Puerto Rico ‘Garbage’ Controversy and stated that his statement was being inferred out of context.
