Travis Head joins Washington Freedom for the 2024 Major League Cricket season

New Delhi, April 15 (IANS) Australia’s Travis Head joins Major League Cricket 2024 for Washington Freedom. Playing alongside Steve Smith under coach Ricky Ponting. Head, known for his performances in WTC and ODI World Cup finals, brings experience to the team. Second MLC season starts on July 4 after Men’s T20 World Cup concludes on June 29.

Head’s addition bolsters Freedom squad, which finished third in the previous MLC season. The franchise announced his signing on social media. Head, currently playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024, has been in good form with the bat, forming a strong partnership with Abhishek Sharma in the power-play.

In addition to Head, Freedom have also secured the services of New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra and retained two overseas players, Marco Jansen from South Africa and Akeal Hosein from the West Indies. Other Australian cricketers participating in MLC 2024 include Adam Zampa (Los Angeles Knight Riders), Spencer Johnson (Knight Riders), and Tim David (MI New York). The competition is expected to be intense in the upcoming season.
