Trinamool MLA sparks controversy by calling Ram temple ‘unholy’

A political controversy has arisen in West Bengal as a Trinamool Congress legislator from Tarakeswar Assembly constituency was caught on video calling the Ram Temple in Ayodhya an “unholy place” and a “showpiece”. The video surfaced recently, sparking outrage and sharp reactions from various quarters.

In the video, the legislator, Sinha Roy, is heard saying, “I feel that no Indian Hindu should not go to offer prayers at the Ram Mandir which according to me is an unholy place. It is nothing but a showpiece.” This statement has drawn strong condemnation from the opposition party leaders and the public.

Leader of the opposition in West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, expressed his strong disapproval of the comment, stating, “I will lodge an FIR against this person for hurting the sentiments of Hindus all over the world by making such hateful statements.” He further criticized the Trinamool Congress leaders for attacking Hindu beliefs.

Responding to the backlash, Adhikari shared the video on his social media account and highlighted the disrespectful remarks made by Sinha Roy. The controversial statement has sparked a series of debates and discussions within the political circles in the state.

Sinha Roy, who serves as the party MLA from Tarakeswar and the president of Arambagh organisational district, remained unavailable for comments on the matter despite repeated attempts by media outlets. The incident has further fueled the ongoing political rivalry and tensions in West Bengal, with both sides exchanging heated arguments over the issue.
