Trinamool supporters allegedly assault BJP leaders in Bengal

Kolkata, March 24 (IANS) – Nadia and South 24 Parganas districts in West Bengal witnessed unrest as BJP leaders were allegedly attacked by Trinamool Congress supporters. BJP members Jagannath Sarkar and Bankim Ghosh were reportedly assaulted in Chakdaha, Nadia, while performing Hindu rituals.

Amit Malviya, BJP’s Information Technology Chief, shared a video on social media stating, “Is it a crime to perform Hindu rituals in Bengal? TMC’s Jahangir Vahini attacked devotees, BJP workers, Ranaghat MP Jagannath Sarkar and MLA Bankim Ghosh during a Harinam Sankirtan at Chakdaha Assembly. TMC hates the Matua community, more so after CAA.”

In a separate incident in Canning (East), South 24 Parganas district, BJP leaders Subrata Das and BIvas Mondal were allegedly attacked by Trinamool Congress activists. Both had to be hospitalized after being dragged out of their homes and beaten severely.

The local BJP leadership has accused the attackers of being close associates of Trinamool Congress MP Pratima Mondal and MLA Saukat Molla. However, Mondal has refuted the claims, stating that the local BJP leaders are known for creating disturbances in the area.
