Truecaller launches AI-powered call recording for iOS, Android users in India

Truecaller, a popular caller identification app, has launched an AI-powered call recording feature in India for iOS and Android platforms. The new feature allows users to record incoming and outgoing calls within the app, available as part of the Premium plan. Managing Director Rishit Jhunjhunwala stated, “We want to give our customers greater control and flexibility in managing their conversations.”

Users can record and transcribe calls in English and Hindi from any caller. The service was previously launched in the US and will be expanded to other markets and languages. For iPhone users, the process involves tapping ‘Record a call’ in the Truecaller app’s Search tab and merging the calls. A push notification alerts when the recording is ready, and all previously recorded calls can be accessed within the app.

Android users can start and stop recording with a dedicated button in the Truecaller dialer or by using a ‘floating’ button on other dialers. A push notification informs users when the recording and transcription are ready. Truecaller aims to offer a valuable tool for personal and professional purposes through this new feature, enhancing control and flexibility in managing conversations.

The AI-powered call recording feature is included in the Truecaller Premium plan, starting at Rs 75 per month or Rs 529 per year. By providing this feature, Truecaller aims to offer users a seamless experience in managing their calls, with the ability to record and transcribe conversations with ease. The company plans to further expand the feature to additional markets and languages in the future.
