In Panaji, two election duty staff were arrested for seizing Rs 16 lakh from a businessman by posing as I-T officials in Goa. The accused were identified as Nitish Navnath Naik and Anirudha Pawar, with Pawar being the Flying Squad in charge.
The Collector and South Goa District election officer, A. Asvin Chandru, suspended the government servants following the incident. The flying squad intercepted the businessman’s vehicle and seized the cash, which was not reported to the election office.
After the businessman filed a complaint with the police, action was taken against the accused. Verna police are currently investigating the case, with more details awaited. The individuals involved have not yet issued a statement regarding the allegations.
