Two individuals caught in possession of leopard skin in Odisha

The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police has arrested two individuals in Kalahandi district for possessing a leopard skin. The accused, Chakra Benal and Purna Chandra Bag, were apprehended during a raid near Narla railway station.

Acting on a tip-off, the STF team, in collaboration with Kalahandi Police, conducted the operation to catch the criminals in the act. The officers recovered a leopard skin and other incriminating materials from the possession of the accused.

An STF officer stated, “During a search, a leopard skin along with other incriminating materials was recovered from their possession.” The accused have been charged under various sections of the IPC and the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972.

The seized leopard skin will be sent to the Wildlife Institute of India in Dehradun for biological examination. The STF is taking necessary steps to ensure that the accused face legal consequences for their involvement in illegal wildlife trafficking.
