Two killed and more than 50 injured in road accident in Punjab, Pakistan

In a tragic incident, two people lost their lives and over 50 were injured in a road accident in Chakwal district of Pakistan’s Punjab province. The accident took place when a bus fell into a ravine in the Sar Kalan area near Kallar Kahar region late Sunday, as reported by highway police.

Highway patrolling police confirmed the details of the accident, attributing it to overspeeding. The driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and fall into a deep ditch. Police and rescue teams arrived at the scene promptly, transporting the deceased and injured to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Deputy Commissioner Chakwal, Quratulain Malik, expressed concern over the severity of the situation, noting that the death toll could potentially rise as five of the injured individuals were in critical condition.
