UAE Work Week Change: Work Week to be 4.5 Days, Saturday-Sunday Weekend

UAE Work Week Change: The United Arab Emirates has made a historical decision for its public sector workers. From 1 January 2022, there will be four and a half-day working week and Saturday and Sunday will be full-off. Let us tell you, currently, there is Friday-Saturday weekend in the country, so Saturday-Sunday weekend is also a big change by the government.

Officials said on Tuesday. “The UAE is the first country in the world to start a national workweek in less than a global five-day week. The new long weekend will boost productivity and improve work-life balance”. the official news agency WAM reported.

According to some sources, the same rules will be allowed for schools as well in the country.

Important things to know about UAE Work Week Change

  • New system to apply in federal government entities.
  • 8 hours a day on Monday to Thursday from 07:30am to 03:30pm.
  • 4.5 hours on Friday from 07:30am to 12:00pm.
  • Friday sermons and prayers to be held after 01:15pm all year long in UAE.
  • Possibility of flexible working hours and work-from-home options on Friday.
  • Longer weekends to boost productivity and improve work-life balance.
  • Starting from 1st of January, 2022.
