The IPL 2022 has thrown up a wonderful pacer –Umran Mallik.  The lad from Jammu and Kashmir as picked up as a replacement for T Natrajan of Sunrisers Hyderabad who tested positive for Covid-19. And the rest as they say is history. India finally has a genuine pace bowler who can bowl really quickly, consistently and can strike fear in the hearts of the batsmen.

Umran Mallik Bowls Consistently Above 150 KPH

What astonished the coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Dale Steyn is Umran’s ability to continuously bowl above 150 kph. Steyn has already predicted that Umran will play for the national team soon. The speedster who hails from Jammu has already scalped 10 wickets in the six IPL matches he has played till date.

Umran picked K.L. Rahul and Virat Kohli among the best batsmen he would like to bowl against. Malik dreams of getting the wicket of Virat Kohli since he is a big fan of both these players.

West Indies batting legend, Brian Lara who is a part of the SRH support staff was also full of praise for the young pacer. Brian Lara said that he had played with a lot of fast bowlers like Sir Malcolm Marshall, Courtney Walsh, and Curtly Ambrose. But for Umran he is reminded of Fidel Edwards who cold bowl really fast. Brian advised the young lad to sharpen and widen his armory of wicket taking balls and not to depend only upon pace.

However it was the searing pace which unsettled his opponents and gave him most of his wickets. He bowled the quickest delivery in IPL 152.95 kph deliver against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). His searing pace created terror in the heart’s of the batsman. In the match against Gujrat Titans, he almost took the head of skipper Hardik Pandya. He also got the wicket of KKR Skipper Sreyas Iyer with a toe bone crushing yorker. Sreyas could only blink his eyes in disbelief as his stumps were castled.
