Unveiling of BhashaNet Portal by IT Ministry and NIXI to Enhance Digital Inclusion

New Delhi, March 20 (IANS) The National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) are all set to unveil the BhashaNet portal on Thursday to promote digital inclusion. The launch event, scheduled on Universal Acceptance (UA) Day, will be held at Dr Ambedkar International Centre in the capital with MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan as the Chief Guest.

“Universal acceptance is a pivotal aspect in our journey towards digital inclusivity. Through UA Day, we reinforce our commitment to bridging linguistic divides and ensuring every voice is heard in the digital sphere,” said NIXI CEO, Dr Devesh Tyagi. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the Internet Governance division of MeitY are actively supporting the UA Day.

The event will include keynote addresses, panel discussions, and technical workshops led by distinguished speakers, focusing on the significance of UA and the steps needed for widespread acceptance, as per the IT Ministry. NIXI, established in 2003, aims to boost internet penetration and adoption by facilitating various infrastructure aspects for managing and utilizing the internet ecosystem. It offers services including Internet Exchange Points, .IN Registry for digital identity, IPv4 and IPv6 addresses adoption, and Data Centre services under NIXI-CSC for data storage.

The initiative aims to bridge linguistic divides and ensure digital inclusivity through the BhashaNet portal, scheduled to be unveiled on Universal Acceptance Day. MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan will grace the event as the Chief Guest at Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. The discussions during the event will emphasize the importance of UA and strategies for achieving widespread acceptance.
