UP Warriorz appoint Uma Chetry as replacement for injured Vrinda Dinesh in WPL 2024
Bengaluru, March 4 (IANS) UP Warriorz’s Vrinda Dinesh has been ruled out of the Women’s Premier League after suffering a shoulder injury during a match against Mumbai Indians at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on February 28. The WPL governing council has approved Uma Chetry as her replacement.
Vrinda missed UP Warriorz’s next game against Gujarat Giants on March 1 and was further ruled out of the tournament on Monday. Uma Chetry, a wicket-keeper batter, has been signed as a replacement at her reserve price of INR 10 lakh.
Uma Chetry, who recently played for India A against England A and was part of the victorious India A Emerging squad at the ACC Emerging Women’s Asia Cup 2023, brings experience and talent to the UP Warriorz team. In the two matches before her injury, Vrinda scored 0 and 18 runs, not batting in the match against Mumbai Indians.
The UP Warriorz have made a strategic move by bringing in Uma Chetry as a replacement for Vrinda Dinesh, who will be missed for the remainder of the Women’s Premier League. Chetry’s addition to the team is expected to strengthen UP Warriorz’s lineup and boost their performance in the upcoming matches.
With Vrinda Dinesh out with a shoulder injury, the UP Warriorz will look to Uma Chetry to fill the void and make a significant impact in the Women’s Premier League. Chetry’s proven track record and skill set make her a valuable asset to the team as they strive for success in the tournament.
