Case Filed Over Leaked ‘Forged’ Obscene Viral Video of UP MP Upendra Singh Rawat

Just days after the BJP revealed its first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, a fake private video featuring UP MP Upendra Singh Rawat went viral on social media.

In the list, BJP MP Upendra Singh Rawat is slated to contest from the Barabanki seat in Uttar Pradesh.

As the video started to circulate widely on the internet, the MP’s personal secretary, Dinesh Chandra Rawat, filed an FIR.

The complaint was lodged against an unidentified individual, as stated by Aditya Tripathi, the in-charge of Kotwali police station.

It has been alleged that the video was created to tarnish Upendra Singh Rawat’s reputation in society as he is poised to contest the election under the BJP banner.

Additionally, according to the police, the viral clip shows a man in a compromising situation with a woman, with the individual speculated to be Upendra Singh Rawat.

Upendra Singh told the media, “I received the party’s ticket for Barabanki, and my opponents have done this,” indicating that the viral clip is edited or manipulated.

Back in 2019, he was named as the BJP’s candidate for the Barabanki seat in the Lok Sabha elections, replacing MP Priyanka Singh Rawat in the constituency.

Recently, the BJP unveiled its list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, which includes 195 candidates. The announcement was made on Saturday morning and includes notable names such as Rajnath Singh from Lucknow, Amit Shah from Gandhinagar, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the Varanasi seat.

Regarding the viral clip, an FIR has been filed, and an investigation is underway to determine who is behind this act. As of now, there have been no updates on the investigation. Upendra is hopeful that the perpetrator will be identified soon.
