US weightlifter Reeves wins three gold medals at IWF World Cup

In Phuket, Thailand, Olivia Reeves from the United States dominated the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Cup, winning three gold medals in the women’s 71kg category. She lifted a total of 268kg, outshining competitors like Liao Guifang and Song Kuk Hyang.

Reeves excelled in all six attempts, with lifts of 118kg in the snatch and 150kg in the clean and jerk. Liao and Song, both world record holders, tried to surpass each other but fell short. Liao managed to lift 149kg but failed in her final attempt of 154kg in the clean and jerk.

The Chinese weightlifter settled for bronze in the snatch and silver in both the clean and jerk and total. The IWF World Cup in Phuket, serving as a qualifying event for Paris 2024, will continue until April 11. Olivia Reeves has set a high bar for the competition with her impressive performance.
