Uzma Bukhari’s Deepfake Video Goes Viral On Twitter, Reddit; Victim Names PTI Worker For Spreading The Scandal

An inappropriate and fake video of Pakistan’s Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari was uploaded on prominent social media platforms like Twitter, Reddit, and Dailymotion and has since gone viral.

The act, which falls under the purview of cybercrime, has caused a huge uproar in Pakistan, and the victim has approached the Lahore High Court (LHC) for justice.

What did Uzma Bukhari say about her viral deepfake video?

Uzma Bukhari spoke to the media outside the Lahore High Court and stated that the indecent and inappropriate act was committed by workers and social media activists of PTI.

Uzma also accused PTI of running a vicious and negative propaganda campaign against other parties.

The Minister also lamented the fact that on one hand, the women who were indulging in acts of vandalism and terrorism on May 9 are being hailed as the daughters of the nation, while on the other hand, character assassination of PML-N women, including Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, is being conducted with the aid of fake and edited videos.

Uzma Bukhari also derided the fact that those involved in such heinous acts, including the character assassination of respectable female politicians, are being hailed and afforded all forms of support.

As per a private TV channel, Bukhari, in her petition at the LHC, named PTI workers Falik Javid and others as being involved in the spread of the fake video. The LHC has asked the petitioner to approach the FIA to place the accused names on the exit control list.
