A video of the Atlanta-based rapper YFN Lucci, who was involved in a shooting in 2020, has gone viral on social media.
The video, obtained by a media house WSBTV, shows the gang-related shooting which led to the death of a 28-year-old James Adams.
2020 Shooting Involving Atlanta Rapper YFN Lucci Captured in Viral Video
As per reports, one of the shooters was identified as YFN Lucci a.k.a. Rayshawn Lamar Bennet.
The 33-year-old rapper was arrested in January 2021 and charged with multiple offences, including felony murder, assault, and participation in criminal gang activity.
The video showed several cars moving on an Atlanta street before some men opened fire.
Meanwhile, several media outlets have reported that prominent rapper Michael Render has submitted a plea to the State Board of Pardons and Paroles asking for support for Lucci’s release.
The document circulating on X stated that Bennet is hardworking and devoted to his career.
Render in his letter said that YFN Lucci was a much sought-after rapper and many artists would like to partner with him in new ventures.
Render added that Lucci has carved a niche in the music industry and is dedicated to his craft.
Render said that the experience has been transformative for the rapper and he is more focused and committed to creating music.
If he is given a chance, he will return to society and serve as a law-abiding and contributing citizen.
Along with YFN Lucci, two others, Ra’von Boyd, 23, and Leroy Pitts, 17, were also arrested by Miami police for their alleged role in the shooting.
As already mentioned, the victim was identified as 28-year-old James Adams.
The alleged shooting incident happened in the southwest area of the city on December 10, 2020.
Adams was found with gunshot wounds to his head on December 10 and died shortly before he could be provided with medical aid.
Another gunshot victim arrived at the fire station and he survived his injuries.
Police later determined that the two incidents were related.
As per the arrest affidavit filed by police, the alleged victim James Adams was himself a member of the YFN crew.
Police also released a video before the shooting in which Adams could be heard saying,
“We’re fitting to f**k this city up, man!” and “Yeah, we’re f**king this city up!”
According to the police, YFN Lucci and his crew were driving around in a location in Atlanta which was dominated by a rival gang.
The SUV in which YFN and his crew were driving entered the oncoming lane and stopped on the left side of the road.
Subsequently, Adams and the front passenger of the vehicle, Ra’von Boyd, fired multiple gunshots with assault rifle-style firearms at people in the rival gang territory.
Adams sustained gunshot wounds to his head and was manually ejected from the vehicle a short distance away.
