Video Goes Viral of ‘Android Muhammad,’ the First Saudi Robot, Behaving Inappropriately With a News Reporter During an Event
A video is currently going viral on the internet featuring Android Muhammad, an AI robot created by Saudi Arabia, behaving inappropriately with a female news reporter.
The video has sparked a debate on Twitter giving birth to considerable viral memes and videos.
As mentioned above, Android Muhammad is a male AI robot developed and manufactured by Saudi Arabia to showcase the country’s progress in advanced technology and artificial intelligence.
‘Android Muhammad’ Behaves Inappropriately With A Female Reporter
Saudi Arabia’s first humanoid robot was revealed during an event for the public. However, things took a surprising turn when the robot attempted to sexually touch a female reporter.
In the viral clip, a female reporter named Rawiya Al-Qasim can be seen standing right next to it while talking about its features. All of a sudden Android Muhammad tries to extend his hand to touch her from the back. Its awkward move has made netizens question the behaviour of the robot. The video instantly started to dominate the internet.
While some suggest that the robot’s movement appeared natural and was made awkward by the reporter’s positioning, others believe it could be a technical issue.
This is not the first instance of AI behaving inappropriately. In 2023, Microsoft introduced Bing AI, powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which faced reports of spying on Microsoft employees shortly after its launch.
Replika, an AI chatbot designed to offer support to people, also encountered backlash for allegedly requesting explicit photos, accessing phone cameras without consent, and engaging in inappropriate conversations with users.
