VinFast, Vietnam’s leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has initiated construction on its first integrated EV manufacturing facility in India in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. With an initial investment of $500 million over five years, the plant aims to produce 1,50,000 vehicles annually, creating job opportunities for 3,000 to 3,500 locals.

CEO of VinFast India, Pham Sanh Chau, expressed, “By establishing an integrated electric vehicle facility, the company’s commitment to job creation, green transportation, and strategic partnerships solidifies VinFast’s position as a major player in the electric vehicle industry.”

The EV facility, sprawled across 400 acres within the SIPCOT industrial estate, not only focuses on manufacturing but also aims to strengthen partnerships with global suppliers and promote localization for economic growth. VinFast plans to establish a nationwide dealership network to ensure easy access for customers across the country.

Tamil Nadu Industries Minister T. R. B. Rajaa affirmed, “Tamil Nadu will support VinFast’s growth plans and is dedicated to making zero-emission mobility accessible. The project will significantly contribute to local economic advancement, job creation, and technical skill development in Tamil Nadu.”
