Vlaeminck, Molineux return as Australia name women's white-ball squad for Bangladesh tour

Australia Recalls Vlaeminck, Molineux for Bangladesh Tour
Australia is set to embark on a white-ball tour of Bangladesh next month, with Tayla Vlaeminck and Sophie Molineux making a comeback in the 15-player squad. The series, consisting of three ODIs and three T20Is, will kick off on March 21 at the National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
Vlaeminck, known for her pace, returns after recovering from a shoulder injury, while Molineux, the standout bowler of the 2023-24 WNCL season, earned her spot after an impressive return in December. Spinner Jess Jonassen and all-rounder Heather Graham have been left out of the squad.
The tour will give the Australian team valuable exposure to the conditions in Bangladesh ahead of the T20 World Cup later this year. CA’s Shawn Flegler expressed excitement about welcoming back Vlaeminck and Molineux, stating that the squad has been selected with a focus on balance and multiple bowling options.
Flegler also acknowledged the disappointment of Jonassen and Graham, emphasizing their value to the team despite missing out on this occasion. The tour presents a crucial opportunity for players to acclimate to the conditions they are likely to encounter during the upcoming T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.
The squad includes Alyssa Healy as captain, along with a mix of experienced players like Ellyse Perry and Beth Mooney, as well as rising talents such as Darcie Brown and Phoebe Litchfield. The team is geared up for a competitive series against Bangladesh as they gear up for the T20 World Cup challenge later this year.
