Volkswagen set to launch ID.4 as its debut EV in India this year

Volkswagen expected to launch ID.4 as its first EV in India by this year. Volkswagen India showcased its ID.4 electric crossover at their Annual Brand Conference in Jaipur. The ID.4 will compete against the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5. It will be priced on the higher side as a Completely Built Unit.

The ID.4 was previously showcased in India as the GTX version with all-wheel drive and an 82 kWh battery pack. It offers a range of up to 500 km, 299 bhp of power, and 499 Nm of torque. The EV can accelerate from zero to 100 kmph in just over six seconds with a top speed limited to 180 kmph. The GTX version sports a sportier look with GTX badging, black roof, spoiler, air intakes, and a large 12-inch digital touchscreen infotainment screen.

Volkswagen has been testing the ID.4 electric crossover on Indian roads. There might be a limited number of cars brought without local homologation. The brand previously used this technique for the T-Roc which sold out instantly. Additionally, Volkswagen updated the Taigun with GT Line and GT Sport variants for a more sporty and stealthy look. The launch date for ID.4 in India is expected by the end of 2024.
