Waheeda Rehman donates her personal film memorabilia to the Film Heritage Foundation

Legendary Bollywood actress Waheeda Rehman has donated her personal film memorabilia to the Film Heritage Foundation for preservation. The Padma Shri awardee has worked with renowned filmmakers like Guru Dutt and Satyajit Ray, and her roles in classic films have left a mark in Indian cinema history.

In a career spanning over five decades, Waheeda Rehman has starred in more than 90 feature films and has been recognized with accolades such as the National Film Award and the Padma Bhushan in 2011. The memorabilia donated includes items like the saree she wore to the premiere of ‘C.I.D.’ in 1956 and photographs from iconic films like ‘Kaagaz Ke Phool’ and ‘Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam’.

Expressing her sentiments, Waheeda Rehman stated, “I’m giving all this to the Film Heritage Foundation because these are very important memories that need to be preserved. I hope you all enjoy seeing all these albums.” The donation was made possible with support from Sohail Rekhi and Kashvi Rekhi, the actress’s son and daughter.

The actress, who was honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke award last year, has left a lasting impact on Indian cinema with her versatile performances and collaborations with some of the industry’s most prominent filmmakers. The memorabilia donated will now be preserved at the FHF archive for the benefit of film enthusiasts and researchers interested in the history of Indian cinema.
