Watch Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapsing After ‘Dali’ Ship Collision
The famous Francis Scott Key Bridge located in Baltimore, the United States, collapsed early Tuesday, March 26, Tuesday, around 1:30 AM as per US local time. The bridge collapsed after colliding with a ship.
At the time of the collapse, around three to four civilian vehicles and twenty construction workers were on the bridge.
The Maryland Transportation Authority announced that “all traffic has been detoured.”
Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapses
Initial reports stated that the large vessel (ship) collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge. It was carrying north and southbound lanes of Interstate 695.
Moreover, before sinking, it caught fire.
Synergy Marine Group, the manager and the registered owner of the ship, Grace Ocean Pte Ltd said that ‘Dali’, the Singapore-flagged container ship collided and sank into the river below, collapsing the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland.
He added,
“Whilst the exact cause of the incident is yet to be determined, the ‘Dali’ has now mobilized its Qualified Individual Incident response service. All crew members, including the two pilots who were aboard, have been accounted for and there are no reports of any injuries.”
Francis Scoot Key Bridge collapse resulted in multiple vehicles falling into the Patapsco River.
Mass Casualties Reported
Local police stated that seven people are still missing, and only two individuals have been rescued.
One of the people who was rescued was in a “very serious condition.” Cops assured the public that the search and rescue operation would carry on until everyone is rescued.
This incident was regarded as a “mass-casualty incident” by the Baltimore City Fire Department. As per various media reports, numerous vehicles also fell into the Patapsco River.
BBC reported that when the incident happened, around twenty construction workers were present on the bridge.
