Web Series Mirzapur controversy: relief to producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, arrest stopped

There was a lot of controversy over the web series ‘Mirzapur’. An FIR was lodged against the makers of this series alleging abusive language and tarnishing Mirzapur’s image. However, now producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani have got relief from Allahabad High Court. The court has stayed the arrest of both. Hearing the writ petition of Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, a bench of Justices Manoj Kumar Gupta and Subhash Chand has ordered stay on the arrest of the producers. At the same time, the Bench has issued notice to the FIR registering and the State Government seeking answers.

Now the matter will be heard in the first week of March. Let us tell you that on January 17, Arvind Chaturvedi lodged an FIR in the name of Farhan and Ritesh at Kotwali village police station in Mirzapur.

In this FIR, complaints were filed against the makers under 295A, 504, 505, Section 34 of IPC and Section 67A of IT Act.

‘Mirzapur’ stars Pankaj Tripathi, Divyendu Sharma, Ali Fazal, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Shweta Tripathi and Rasika Duggal in lead roles.
