What Is Project 2025? Leaked Videos Reveal an Idea Propagated by Ex-Trump Officials

Project 2025 is the controversial right-wing plan for the next Republican presidency, envisaging a major effort to replace non-partisan civil servants with conservative loyalists.

The initiative is spearheaded by many former Trump administration officials.

This was revealed in the latest leaked training videos, which show the organization’s staffing initiative seeking to replace government employees.

Leaked Videos Reveal “Project 2025” Strategy

The latest videos, published over the weekend by ProPublica and Documented, lay bare the Heritage Foundation think-tank’s plan to recruit and train political appointees who will be employed in a future conservative administration.

The whole exercise has been dubbed Project 2025 and was created for the Presidential Administration Academy.

The highly controversial Project 2025, besides intending to start many policy proposals, also intends to replace thousands of government employees, many of whom represent loyalists from both ends of the political spectrum, with partisan Republican loyalists.

Out of the 36 speakers, 29 had previously served the former US president Donald Trump in some capacity.

The group’s Director resigned two weeks ago, reportedly under intense pressure from Trump campaign leadership.

The group’s extreme policy proposals had invited harsh criticism, and after the backlash, Trump has been attempting to distance himself from the group.

Among the controversial proposals are calls to replace civil servants with Trump loyalists, eliminate the education department, cut down environmental protection measures, and downsize LGBTQ+ and reproductive rights.

The latest videos seem to be from a period before the resignation of the Director.

There are 23 videos, adding up to 14 hours, where former Trump administration officials give advice to future appointees about the steps that will best advance their conservative policies.

In one of the videos, Rick Dearborn, who was a member of Trump’s 2016 transition team and served in the Trump White House as deputy chief of staff, can be seen admitting how tough it was to fill all the positions during the Trump administration.

Rick Dearborn also emphasized the importance of recruitment and training, which Project 2025 is doing right now and will be crucial for the next President.

The Project is poring through the database of people that can be part of the future Administration, a luxury which the previous Trump Administration did not have.

Another bone of contention is the climate change movement, which speakers such as Bethany Kozma, the former deputy chief of staff at the US Agency for International Development, labelled as a measure by the government to control people.

Kozma, in the video titled “Left-Wing Code Words and Language,” said that if the American public elected a conservative President, it would be his administration’s responsibility to remove climate change references from absolutely everywhere.

The Biden administration’s creation of gender adviser positions in the federal government also invited the ire of the conservatives, and Katie Sullivan, acting assistant attorney general at the Justice Department under Trump, called for the position to be abolished.

In some videos, the speakers cautioned that future conservative political appointees must be ready to face hostile mainstream media from within the federal government, and also from people in Washington DC.

Despite Trump trying to distance himself from Project 2025 and stating that he has no idea who is behind it, prominent media houses like the Washington Post have reported that Kevin Roberts, the head of the Heritage Foundation, had talked to the media house and stated that he had personally talked to Trump about it.

Roberts stated to the Washington Post, “My role in the project has been to make sure that all of the candidates who have responded to our offer for a briefing on Project 2025 get one from me,”

Also, there are pictures of Trump with Roberts on a private plane in 2022. Trump also gave a keynote speech to the foundation’s annual conference.
