Volodymyr Zelensky was born on 25 January 1978 in the Soviet Union city of Krivy Rih. The city is currently part of Ukraine. Zelensky’s parents were Jewish. When he was a child, Zelensky’s family moved to live in Erdenet, Mongolia.

Volodymyr Zelensky’s early education happened in Mongolia. But he could still speak Ukrainian and Russian. He returned to Ukraine when he grew up and graduated from the Kyiv National Economic University with a law degree in 1995.
