Matpat: Reason Behind Leaving YouTube

Matpat’s full name is Matthew Robert Patrick opened a YouTube channel with his wife whom he met at Dukes University, Stephanie. Together they founded a channel in which they talked and shared their theories and ideas behind video games which helped people understand the ‘gaming’s tangential learning experience’.

It’s been over 13 years since their activity on the platform, but as of January 10, 2024, Matpat announced his retirement from YouTube. He shared that he’ll be on the platform and thinks the kingdom is built up and should be passed on to somebody else.

Matpat mentioned that he doesn’t like that over the past 11 years, all his wife and he did was put their work first. Even when they were having dinner with their best friends all they could talk about was the content they’d put on the channel. He also mentioned that he’d like to spend more time with his son who growing older very quickly.

Their channel is called, ‘The Game Theorists’ and due to his involvement in the franchise so much, he even got a part in the film, ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ where he had a cameo role. From March 9, 2024, the channel will be handed over to someone else.

“I’ve been so honored to have been a part of your lives but I think it’s time for someone to have that honor,” said Matpat in his ‘Goodbye Internet’ farewell video.
