Will Smith And Chris Rock; This Is Why Will Slapped Chris At The ‘Oscars’

The crowd was stunned at the ’94th Academy Awards’ when Will Smith and Chris Rock had an unexpected on-stage confrontation. As Chris Rock appeared on stage at the Oscars to give us the best factual prize, he cracked a joke regarding Jada Pinkett Smith, the actor’s wife. Will chuckled a little at first, then Jada was seen rolling her eyes. Will quickly walked up to the podium and smacked Chris across the face.

This Is What Actually Happened

Will Smith seized the ‘Oscars’ stage and punched comedian Chris Rock in the face for making a joke about his wife, in a spectacle that made headlines and left astonished spectators wondering whether it was staged or authentic.
Rock had made jokes equating Jada Pinkett Smith’s sharply cropped hair to Demi Moore’s portrayal in the film “G.I. Jane” and recommending she star in a spinoff when delivering the best documentary trophy with a short comedy performance.

Jada has already spoken publicly about her diagnosis of alopecia, or hair loss. She originally talked out about it in 2018, and she has subsequently shared her struggles with the ailment on social media. She claimed she had opted to shave her head short following finding handfuls of it in the shower. “It was one of those times in my life where I was literally shaking in fear. That’s why I cut my hair, and why I continue to cut it,” she had said. It’s an immunological condition that affects hair follicles, causing bald areas and hair loss.

Smith rushed up to Rock and smacked him before retreating to his seat with Jada and shouted obscenities, eliciting uncomfortable stillness and uncertainty in the Dolby Theatre. “Keep my wife’s name out of your f*****g mouth,” yelled Smith requiring the editors to censor out many seconds of video from the US broadcast telecast. During the intermission, Daniel Kaluuya approached Will to hug him, and Denzel Washington escorted him to the edge of the stage, according to the Associated Press. Tyler Perry followed them in talking and hugging. During one of the advert breaks, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban spoke with Will and Jada, according to the firm.

Will went on to win his first Academy Award shortly after. For his role in King Richard, he received Best Actor. Will apologised to the Academy and spoke about the value of family in his career in his victory speech. “I wanna apologize to the Academy… to all my fellow nominees. … Art imitates life, I look like the crazy father! … Love will make you do crazy things,” is what Will said.
