Wipro New Hires Will Get Lower Pay; Firm Reduces Packages; Details Here

The IT giant Wipro has reduced the offers it provided to freshmen as a surprise. Candidates to whom Wipro had previously extended an option of Rs 6.5 lakh per annum (LPA) have received a letter requesting them to accept the offer at Rs 3.5 LPA, which represents a nearly 50% drop.

The action by Wipro comes amid a shaky market backdrop and recession period worries, which have led the company to postpone the boarding process for the class of 2022 graduates for a while. The organization has two employment programs for recent graduates: Turbo and Elite. Although Turbo candidates are given an offer of Rs 6.5 LPA, Elite contestants are given Rs 3.5 LPA.

Former Infosys director Mohandas Pai believes that this will be very challenging for freshmen who undoubtedly turned down other offers. “It’s a poor decision. Businesses should fulfill their commitments. These individuals are new hires with high expectations.”

Freshmen have been warned by Wipro that if they embrace this contract offer, all prior offers will be null and invalid. Wipro has stated that they are unable to guarantee a precise hiring date if a candidate chooses to cling to the prior offer.

Pai believes that this demonstrates the importance of the organization. Other bids were turned down. While a brief delay is OK, eliminating the offer is incorrect. It is a matter of morals, values, and value systems. This mindset is mercenary! Given the enormous size of these companies, the additional expenditures are not significant.

Intervention of NITES in Wipro’s Decision

Wipro stated that it is dedicated to the development and success of every one of its workers and is eager to welcome this new generation of recent graduates. Wipro’s “unethical” decision to decrease the salary of potential hires from a deal of 6.5 lakhs per year to 3.5lackss per year has been harshly condemned by the IT sector workers union NITES.

“In addition to being unfair, the decision to reduce employee compensation without previous negotiation or consultation also violates the concepts of justice and openness. The fact that the workers are the only ones bearing the economic strain of the organization is intolerable “According to NITES President Harpreet Singh Saluja. NITES has urged management to rethink its choice and hold substantive talks with the union to come to a win-win conclusion.
