Woman Maoist cadre with Rs 6L bounty lands in Maha police net in Gadchiroli

In a major breakthrough, the Maharashtra Police have apprehended a woman Maoist leader with a bounty of Rs 6 lakh on her head from Gadchiroli district. The arrested individual, identified as Kamla Padaga Gota, alias Rajeshwari, has a history of criminal activities dating back to when she was just 13 years old.

Rajeshwari, now 30, hails from Chhattisgarh and is implicated in multiple cases of serious offenses in Gadchiroli. She joined the ranks of the CPI-Maoist as a teenager and quickly rose through the ranks to become the Deputy Commander of a special outfit.

Despite multiple encounters with the police and a stint in jail, Rajeshwari continued her involvement in Maoist activities. Her capture is a significant blow to the extremist group, with the Maharashtra government offering a substantial reward for her arrest.

Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police, Neelotpal, highlighted the successful operation as part of ongoing efforts to crack down on Maoist insurgency in the region. With 73 hardcore Maoists arrested in the past year, authorities are urging extremists to surrender and renounce violence.
