History
World Animal Day has a long back history. The day was first organized by Heinrich Zimmermann in 1925, Berlin. His aim behind organizing this day was to create awareness and improve the welfare of animals. In the very first event of World Animal day, about 5000 people came forward and showed their support. The World Animal Day is also known called Feast Day of St Francis of Assisi. St Francis was the patron saint of animals.
Significance
As we all know, due to climate change and habitat loss, once famous species are on the verge of extinction or have already extinct. World Animal Day also plays an important role in raising awareness about this problem and promoting caring for, protecting, conserving those species who are about to leave this planet.
