Every year April 7 is observed as World Health Day to mark the anniversary of the World Health Organization (WHO). The purpose of celebrating this day is to make sure that people should have access to good health facilities and to make more-to-more people aware of the importance aware of good health both physically and mentally.
World Health Day is not the only day with this purpose, throughout the year, we celebrate various health-related days at the national and international levels like Yoga Day, Cancer Day, World Malaria Day, Kidney Day, etc. The purpose of celebrating these days is to promote awareness of people’s general health and well-being in their respective ways.
World Health Day started being celebrated annually since 1950, this year the 74th World Health Day is being celebrated all over the world. World Health Organization was founded by the UN with the support of 61 countries with the aim of providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical support to countries, and monitoring and assessing health trends.
On World Health Day, various awareness programs are organized by the government or private organizations at the village, city, and town levels to create awareness about various diseases. Along with this, speeches, street plays, and exhibitions are also organized to make people aware.
