On June 19th, combine gin and sherry in a shaker with cubes and a citrus twist. It’s Martini Day all over the world!
This alcoholic beverage became one of the most well-known mixed cocktails. In a typical or ideal Martini, equal proportions of gin and vermouth are used. For those who have never tried a Martini, we’ve put together a glossary of terminology to get you started.
The Martini became more popular after the release of the James Bond films in the late 1960s. Clear spirits, such as vodka, eventually surpassed older spirits, such as bourbon, in the share of the market. However, in the past few decades, there appears to have been a balancing act.
World Martini Day: Ways To Celebrate
Make a Martini or a cocktail inspired by a Martini. Martinis are a great drink to offer with hors d’oeuvres at a minor gathering. Make it a night to recall, whether you offer a simple cheese and meat platter or go for it with shrimp, stuffed artichokes, and paté. (Keep in mind to drink in moderation and designated a sober driver at all times.)
Other enjoyable ways to commemorate the occasion are as follows:
Learn how to prepare classic cocktails by attending a cocktail class.
I’m working on a novel about bartending’s history.
Attending a local wine bar with turn-of-the-century charm.
Visiting a neighborhood cocktail bar with period details from the beginning of the century.
Watching a film about just the Martini or other well-known beverages.
To promote on social media, use the hashtag #NationalMartiniDay or #WorldMartiniDay.
