World Meteorological Day is celebrated on 23rd March every year. The day is observed to highlight the National Meteorological and Hydrological Services’ work towards the safety and well-being of the individuals. They work in protecting and preserving the Earth’s atmosphere. On 23rd March, World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), an intergovernmental organisation was established. Since 1961, March 23rd has been observed as World Meteorological Day. On this day, the work of the World Meteorological Organization is highlighted and taught to future generations. Now the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) has around 193 members from different territories and countries. Many do not know that the guidelines are based on the Vienna International Meteorological Congress of 1873 attended by the International Meteorological Organization (IMO). The headquarter of the organization is in Geneva, Switzerland.
