WPL 2024: Clinical bowling helps RCB to easy win against Gujarat Giants

Royal Challengers Bangalore displayed a clinical bowling performance led by Sophie Molineux and Renuka Singh to restrict Gujarat Giants to 107/7. In response, RCB chased down the target with ease, thanks to Smriti Mandhana and Sabbhineni Meghana’s contributions, securing an eight-wicket victory in the Women’s Premier League.

In the fifth match of WPL Season 2, Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to field first. Renuka Singh made an impact early on by dismissing Gujarat Giants skipper Beth Mooney for just eight runs, setting the tone for the match at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Phoebe Litchfield and Sophie Molineux further troubled the Giants’ batting lineup, as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Despite Dayalan Hemalatha’s unbeaten 31, Gujarat Giants could only manage to reach 107/7 in their allotted 20 overs, with RCB bowlers keeping a tight leash on the scoring.

Chasing 108 for victory, Royal Challengers’ skipper Smriti Mandhana led from the front with a quickfire 43 off 27 balls. Sabbhineni Meghana and Ellyse Perry provided valuable contributions as RCB reached the target in just 12.3 overs, sealing a comfortable win over the Giants.
