Xiaomi Mi 10i Review: The company has created a buzz by giving 108MP primary sensor in Mi 10i. In other brands of smartphones, you get a maximum of 64MP primary camera sensor. We will know in this review is this really a better entry level 5G smartphone in this price range?
Xiaomi has made it clear at the beginning of the year that it will launch many of its affordable 5G smartphones in India in 2021. The company made its debut with the Mi 10i. The price of this smartphone has also been kept at Rs 21,999, equivalent to the price of MotoG 5G launched at the end of last year. This affordable 5G smartphone has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G processor.
Just a month after the launch of Mi 10i, rival company Realme has also launched its affordable 5G smartphone X7 Series in India. The starting price of Realme X7 is Rs 19,999. Apart from Xiaomi Mi 10i, there are many more 5G smartphones which are available in the price range of Rs 25,000. These include OnePlus Nord 5G in addition to Moto G 5G and Realme X7. At the same time, Samsung can also soon introduce its Galaxy A32 5G in the same price range.

Design and build quality
Before buying any smartphone, we look at its design. You will find the look and design of Xiaomi Mi 10i quite impressive. Xiaomi has done a lot of work especially on its finishing. Plastic material has been used in the body of the phone. However, it looks quite attractive because of the glass finishing on its back.
Traditional circular camera design is seen in the phone. You may have seen this kind of design in OnePlus 7T. However, the placement of the camera is quite different from the OnePlus 7T, due to the quad rear camera set-up given in it. The LED flash light is provided on the left of the camera module of the phone.
The front panel of the phone has a display panel with a punch-hole cut out. Its design is very similar to many mid and premium range smartphones of Samsung. However, the bezel under it is slightly thicker. Talking of side bezels, it is not much. Physical fingerprint sensor and volume button have been given in the right side of the phone.
At the same time, you will see a hybrid SIM card slot in the left side, in which you can either add two SIM cards or a SIM card and a microSD card. On the bottom side you get USB Type C charging jack, 3.5mm audio port and speaker grille.
Talking about the display of Mi 10i, it has a Full HD + display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Talking about its display material, the company has used the IPS LCD panel in it. The resolution of the display is 2400 x 1080 pixels. Xiaomi has offered brightness of up to 450nits in the display of this smartphone but it does not get the AMOLED feel. If you have used a smartphone like Samsung Galaxy A51 or M51, then you do not get better video quality in the Mi 1oi display even at 120Hz refresh rate.
Brightness has to be kept full to see the content in its display even in daylight (sunlight). Even after this, you have to give more stress to the eyes. You can browse videos of good quality in the phone’s display in moderation light condition. The phone has a 6.67 inch size display whose screen-to-body ratio is also fine. Due to the thin bezels on the side, you will not get complaints in the viewing experience. For the protection of the display, the phone has a 2.5D curved glass panel.
Talking about the performance of the phone, this smartphone comes in two storage options – 6GB RAM + 128GB and 8GB RAM + 128GB. LPDDR4x RAM is supported in the phone. It has UFS 2.1 support for storage. The phone comes with mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G SoC processor support. This mid range 5G processor of Qualcomm is also similar to Snapdragon 765G. Its GPU performance is lower than SD 765G.
OnePlus Nord 5G comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G. In such a situation, you get the same performance in both these phones. The graphical experience of the phone is weak compared to Nord. During gaming, you do not see any glitches in the screen, but when playing high performance games for a long time, the back panel starts to heat up. The processor of the phone has a speed of 2.2GHz. It is a processor coming with 8nm processing technology. Also, it gets the X62 Dual Band 5G model. It comes with 4G + 4G and 5G + 0 network support. However with OTA update it will support 4G + 5G network

This smartphone has a 4,820mAh Li-Polymer battery. It works on dual split charging technology. It has 33W fast charging support. USB Type C reverse charging jack is available in the phone, meaning that you can charge any other smartphone from this phone as well. Phone on MIUI 12 operating system based on Android 10.
Even if you are a heavy smartphone user, its battery lasts one day. The phone’s battery takes one to one and a half hours to be fully charged. It offers better battery than other 5G smartphones in this price range. The MIUI 12 operating system has a battery optimization feature that protects its battery from rapid discharge. Its software experience is not good like other phones of Xiaomi. The phone comes with a variety of pre-installed apps which may disappoint you. However, many users find MIUI quite good. In such a situation, if you are already a Mi Fan then you will not have trouble with its software.
The Xiaomi Mi 10i has a quad rear camera set-up. Its primary sensor is 108MP. The company has used Samsung HM2 sensor in it which supports f / 1.7 aperture. The phone uses a 7P lens with autofocus feature. Xiaomi has made a lot of buzz about its 108MP camera. However, its 108MP camera does not really look like a 108MP camera. Its camera is not optimized properly. Regular only 12MP camera is available in it. You have to select this mode to use the 108MP camera sensor. The quality of the phone’s camera is similar to that of the Redmi Note 9 Pro. You do not get a 108MP feel in the picture taken in this mode. On zooming the picture taken, it starts distorting or its pixels start bursting.
The phone supports 10x digital zoom. However, you do not get to see sharpness and clarity in the picture clicked in 10x zoom. You will not see anything clear in the picture taken on zoom. The phone gets an 8MP ultra wide angle camera sensor. It also has a camera with f / 2.2 aperture which supports 120 degree field of view (FOV). Apart from this, the phone has 2MP depth and 2MP macro camera. Both these cameras use f / 1.75 aperture.
The camera of the Mi 10i has many modes, including Super Macro, VLOG-like modes. Prototype and Pro modes are also provided in the phone. For video, it also has a super slow motion feature. Its camera supports 4K video at 30fps. 1080p HD video can be captured with the phone’s selfie camera. It has a 16MP selfie camera. Its selfie camera is suitable for social media uploads. You can get a better camera in many smartphones that fall in this range. The quality of the selfie camera will also be similar to the Redmi Note 9 Pro.
If you want to buy a 5G smartphone at a price of Rs 21,999, then you can consider it, however, you can find a better Motorola Moto G 5G coming in this price. Both phones come with almost similar features on paper but the 108MP camera of Mi 10i attracts the user. However, we would like to say that its 108MP camera is only a marketing term, in fact you get the same picture quality as the picture taken with the 48MP camera. Except the build quality and design of the phone, we have got this 5G version of Redmi Note 9 Pro.
