How Did Yifan Liu Die?
On Tuesday, September 12, 2023, postgraduate student Yifan Liu tragically committed suicide. For roughly six months, she has been a member of the academic organization PUA, which stands for Physics and Astronomy. Yifan was frequently seen as a happy and vivacious individual. However, allegations that Fisher Yu, an assistant professor at ETH Zurich, had sexually assaulted her have been connected to her tragic death.
In March of that year, Yifan started working with Fisher Yu’s team at ETH after quitting her previous teaching position. There were charges that he had inappropriate interactions with certain female students and that he was cruel to them by making negative comments.
