The YUVA programme is essentially a mentorship programme for aspiring authors. Its goal is to mentor 75 young writers there under the age of 30.

YUVA Programme Objectives

1. It is targeted at young authors who are eager to voice themselves and represent Indian culture and language on a worldwide scale.
2. Each author will receive a combined fellowship of Rs 50,000 monthly for 6 months underneath the program.
3. The goal of this programme is to elevate reading and writing as a vocation on par with others.
4. Another goal of the campaign is to give young brains a good mental boost in the middle of the COVID-19 epidemic.
5. As India approaches its 75th year of independence, the plan aims to cultivate contemporary representatives of Indian literature.

Implementation of the YUVA Mentoring Program

The National Book Trust (NBT), which is part of the Ministry of Education in India, is in charge of implementing and executing the YUVA Program.

The National Book Trust is a non-profit organisation dedicated to this program.

1. In 1957, the GOI formed the NBT as an apex organisation there under the Department of Higher Education.
2. The NBT’s goals are to create and support the creation of excellent literature in English, Hindi, as well as other Indian languages, as well as to promote such reading affordable to the general people.
3. It also intends to publish book inventories, organise book career fairs and conferences, and take any other efforts necessary to encourage people to read.
4. The New Delhi World Book Fair, the biggest online festival in the Afro-Asian continent, is organised by the NBT every year.

YUVA Program: How To Apply

This section details the registration and screening criteria for the YUVA program.

1. 75 authors will be chosen from an All India Contest hosted by the MyGov platform. (https://innovateindia.mygov.in/yuva/)
2. The authors will be chosen by a group appointed by the NBT based on their contribution to a 5000-word essay.
3. The panel will determine whether the contribution is suitable for adaptation into a book.
4. The competition will take place from June 4th through July 31st, 2021.
5. The identities of the chosen writers will be revealed on August 15, 2021.
6. Under the supervision of mentorship, the shortlisted writers will create a dissertation for final assessment.
7. The submissions will be ready for publishing by December 15th, 2021, and can be unveiled on National Youth Day (12 January 2022).
