Yuven Sundaramoorthy confirms competing in 2024 Firestone INDY NXT Series Alongside Abel Motorsports
New Delhi, Feb 28 (IANS) Yuven Sundaramoorthy, the rising star in motorsport with Indian heritage, is all geared up to compete in the 2024 Firestone INDY NXT Series, representing Abel Motorsports. The 37th edition of the open-wheel motorsport event is set to kick off on March 10 on the Streets of St Petersburg, Florida.
As the primary support series for the IndyCar Series, the 2024 INDY NXT by Firestone season promises high-octane action with a 14-race schedule, including the addition of another oval track to better prepare drivers for NTT INDYCAR SERIES competition.
With the championship race scheduled for Sunday, September 15 at the Nashville Super Speedway, the season will feature doubleheader weekends on May 10-11 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course and on June 22-23 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California.
Every race of the 2024 INDY NXT series will be streamed live on Peacock, with practice and qualifying coverage available on INDYCAR LIVE. Yuven Sundaramoorthy expressed his excitement, stating, “It’s an honour to represent my Indian heritage in such a prestigious event. I’m determined to give it my all and leave a lasting impression with every lap.”
Looking back at his impressive performance during the 2023 USF Pro Championships season, Sundaramoorthy earned his spot in the USF Pro 2000 program before joining Abel Motorsports for the Indy NXT series. With notable finishes in Nashville, Portland, and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, he has proven his skills on the track.
In 2021, Sundaramoorthy clinched four wins and secured five podium finishes, finishing third in the USF 2000 title race. As the only Indian-American driver to succeed in the IndyCar ladder system, his victories at prestigious tracks like the Indianapolis Motor Speedway have solidified his status as a rising star in motorsport.
