Zoho’s Vembu shares strategies for leveraging local talent in district development

New Delhi, April 13 (IANS) Responding to a post on the social media platform X, Zoho founder and CEO Sridhar Vembu on Saturday shared insights on how to utilize local talent to develop districts in India. The discussion stemmed from a user named Krishnan questioning the necessity of having one IIT per district and its impact on job creation.

Vembu highlighted the potential of each district in India, stating that with about 20,000 children born per year in each district, there is a sufficient demographic base to cultivate talented individuals. He emphasized the need to explore ways to support and enable this talent to reach its full potential, raising the question of whether each district could sustain institutions like IIT or AIIMS.

The Zoho founder urged users to consider the possibilities for maximizing the talent pool of these districts, emphasizing the importance of nurturing and promoting the growth of local talent. Vembu recently announced the development of ‘Karuvi’, handheld power tools aimed at generating more rural employment opportunities in the country.

The introduction of these tools is seen as a step towards empowering local communities and utilizing their skills to boost economic growth. Vembu’s vision for leveraging local talent to propel district development aligns with the broader goal of fostering innovation and creating sustainable job opportunities across India.
