As per reports, the event will be inaugurated by Union minister Darshana V Jardosh today. The main aim of the event is to highlight and celebrate the rich and vibrant culture of India along with linking the local talent with the relevant businesses of retailers, wholesalers and buyers. Additionally, this will be a part of EPCH’s intention to increase the local handicraft as well as domestic business. From April of last year to February this year, India’s export business has gone to  Rs 28,000 crore solely to handicrafts exports. The country has exported Rs 33,253 crore of goods in the 2021-22 category.

As per sources the buyers from more than 110 countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Norway, France, Sweden, Italy, Turkey and Sweden will be showcasing their work at the event. The organisers of the event stated- “The fair is the world’s largest congregation of B2B (business to business) handicrafts fair as per the Limca Book of Records,” EPCH’s director general Rakesh Kumar told TOI on Tuesday. EPCH chairman Raj Kumar Malhotra, meanwhile, said the fair will showcase goods spanning from houseware, furnishing, furniture, gifts and decorative, festive décor, and lamps and lighting. “With a new range of handicrafts and gifts products, collectively the 55th IHGF Spring Fair offers thoughtfully curated concepts and products on a single platform.” The event will help in recognise the local talents that go unappreciated by international buyers coming to India.
