Ashalata Devi Hopes for Good Show by Indian women’s team in Turkish Women’s Cup

Istanbul (Turkey), Feb 19 (IANS) – Ashalata Devi, the seasoned defender, is looking forward to a good performance from the Indian women’s team at the Turkish Women’s Cup 2024, starting in Alanya, Turkey, on Wednesday. Ashalata, who will lead India in the tournament, has previously played in the competition and is aware of the tough competition that India is expected to face. The other three teams in the tournament are Estonia, Kosovo, and Hong Kong.

Upon the Indian team’s arrival at Istanbul airport on their way to Alanya, Ashalata expressed that the players are feeling a bit tired due to the long journey, but are looking forward to the event. She stated, “However tiring the journey is, we remain prepared to take everything in stride and give our best. It is time we got the show on the road.”

Langam Chaoba Devi, the head coach for the Indian women’s team, also expressed confidence in the squad, emphasizing their preparation and physical fitness. She mentioned that the exposure to international teams in the tournament will benefit the young players, and she is confident that the team will do their best in the matches.

India’s fixtures in the Turkish Women’s Cup 2024 include matches against Estonia, Hong Kong, and Kosovo on Feb 21, Feb 24, and Feb 27, respectively.
