YouTube brings new channel pages for creators on its TV app

YouTube Unveils New Look for Creators’ Channels on TV App

San Francisco, Feb 21 (IANS) – Google-owned YouTube has introduced a fresh look for creators’ channels on its TV app, aiming to enhance user experience and accessibility on the big screen. The revamp includes a modern layout, improved action buttons, and the ability to play a mix of video content.

In a video announcing the changes, YouTube stated that the update emphasizes a more immersive layout and easier access to Subscribe. The new design comes as the company revealed a 400 per cent growth in top creators receiving the majority of their watch time on TVs over the past three years.

YouTube CEO Neal Mohan explained, “Viewers want everything in one place, from live sports games to educational content and makeup tutorials. And they’re watching YouTube the way we used to sit down together for traditional TV shows — on the biggest screen in the home with friends and family.”

The company has also observed a 100 per cent rise in views of YouTube Shorts on connected TVs from January to September 2023. Additionally, viewers globally are now watching over 1 billion hours on average of YouTube content on their TVs every day.

According to Nielsen, YouTube has been declared the number-one streaming platform in the US by watch time for a whole year.

The new changes on the YouTube TV app are set to provide a more seamless and engaging experience for both creators and viewers. With the increasing trend of consuming content on larger screens, the revamped design is a step towards catering to the evolving preferences of users and enhancing accessibility to a wide range of video content.

With this update, YouTube aims to establish itself as the go-to platform for a diverse range of content, reinforcing its position as the leading streaming platform in the US and globally.

It is evident that YouTube is committed to keeping up with the changing patterns of content consumption and ensuring a user-friendly interface for creators and viewers alike.

As YouTube continues to evolve and adapt to the shifting preferences of audiences, the new look for creators’ channels on its TV app is indicative of the platform’s dedication to providing an immersive and accessible viewing experience on the big screen.
