KIUG 2023: Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar dominates 10m Air Rifle final

Olympian Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar of Guru Nanak Dev University secured the men’s 10m Air Rifle gold at the 4th Khelo India University Games 2023 in Guwahati. Tomar dominated the competition, leading from the first shot and finishing with a total of 252 points. He was followed by Umamahesh Maddieni of KLEF University in the second position and Sumedh Sasane of Shivaji University in third place.

Tomar expressed his satisfaction with his performance, stating, “I am quite happy with the way I shot today. I didn’t have a good outing in the ISSF World Cup in Granada and I came here to work on certain flaws and find my rhythm ahead of a long season.”

In addition to his individual triumph, Tomar also contributed to Guru Nanak Dev University’s team gold in the 10m Air Rifle event, alongside Vidit Jain and Manpreet Singh Basra.

Elsewhere in the games, Jain University maintained their lead in the overall standings, with their women’s basketball team claiming gold and their swimmers securing two more gold medals. Chandigarh University and Savitribai Phule University followed closely in the second and third positions, respectively.

Savitribai Phule University saw success in the weightlifting arena, with Trupti Mane winning the women’s 76 kg category and Abhijit Disale clinching the men’s 89 kg gold. In kabaddi, Chandigarh University emerged victorious in the women’s final, while Mangalore University triumphed in the men’s category.

The 4th Khelo India University Games (KIUG) 2023, Ashtalakshmi, continues to showcase incredible talent from universities across India, with participants excelling in a variety of disciplines, from shooting to kabaddi. The competition serves as a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills and compete at a national level.

We look forward to witnessing more thrilling performances and exceptional achievements as the games progress.
