KIUG 2023: Archer Mahek Pathan wins two gold; Lovely Professional University claim Compound team medals

Archer Mahek Pathan shines in the 4th Khelo India University Games 2023, helping Savitribai Phule University secure third place overall. Pathan claimed gold in compound women’s and mixed team events, along with a team bronze. In the archery competition held at SAI Archery Range in Meghalaya, Pathan emerged victorious against Lovely Professional University’s Sunainadevi in the final and partnered with Parth Korde for another gold in the mixed team event.

Lovely Professional University dominated the archery event, securing gold in both men’s and women’s team competitions. Jain University remains in the lead in the overall standings, followed by Chandigarh University. Meanwhile, in weightlifting, Dilabardeep Singh of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University clinched gold in the +109kg category, while Ruchika Dhore of Chandigarh University secured gold in the +87kg category.

University of Calicut emerged victorious in men’s football, defeating University of Calcutta, while Punjabi University secured a spot in the semi-finals by beating Guru Nanak Dev University. The competition continues to showcase the talent and competitive spirit of university athletes from across the country.
