The Indian men’s team for Tokyo 2020 will receive their match schedule for the Paris Olympic Games hockey competition on March 6 in Lausanne, where the fixtures will be unveiled by the International Hockey Federation and the International Olympic Committee President.
The Indian men’s team is placed in a tough Group B with Belgium, Australia, Argentina, New Zealand, and Ireland. Meanwhile, the women failed to qualify after finishing fourth in the Ranchi Qualifying Tournament in January. The Paris Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11, with hockey competitions scheduled from July 27 to August 9.
FIH President Tayyab Ikram expressed gratitude to President Bach for attending the event, highlighting the importance of hockey in the Olympics since 1908. The upcoming Paris Olympics hold special significance as it coincides with the Centennial year for the global hockey community. A FIH Hockey Pro League workshop will also take place in Lausanne on March 6 and 7.
