Delhi Capitals Defeat Mumbai Indians by 29 Runs as Jess Jonassen Takes Three Wickets in WPL 2024

Left-arm spinner Jess Jonassen starred with the ball as Delhi Capitals secured a 29-run victory over Mumbai Indians in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. After posting 192/4, Delhi bowlers dominated to restrict Mumbai to 163/8, maintaining their top spot in the points table.

Mumbai’s chase got off to a shaky start with early wickets falling to Marizanne Kapp and Shikha Pandey. Despite Hayley Matthews’ quickfire 29, wickets kept tumbling with Jonassen taking crucial scalps. Amanjot Kaur’s valiant 47 was not enough as Delhi’s bowlers continued to dominate, eventually securing the win.

With fifties from Jemimah Rodrigues and Meg Lanning setting the tone for Delhi, the bowlers backed up the effort to stifle Mumbai’s pursuit of the target. Every Delhi bowler, except Arundhati Reddy, contributed with wickets as they maintained control throughout the innings to secure the victory.

The win for Delhi Capitals puts them in a strong position as they continue their campaign in the WPL 2024. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, will look to regroup and bounce back from this defeat in their upcoming matches. The competition remains fierce as teams strive to secure their spots in the playoffs and ultimately claim the WPL title.
