Musheer’s Ton and Multiple Fifties Help Mumbai Set Vidarbha a Challenging Chase in Ranji Final

Mumbai’s Musheer Khan made history in the Ranji Trophy final by becoming the youngest batter to score a century, surpassing a record held by Sachin Tendulkar. Mumbai set Vidarbha a daunting target of 538 runs, with Musheer, Ajinkya Rahane, and Shreyas Iyer playing crucial roles in their second innings.

After dismissing Vidarbha for 105 following Mumbai’s first innings score of 224, Mumbai extended their lead to 260 runs by the end of the second day. On the third day, 19-year-old Musheer Khan shone with his maiden Ranji Trophy century, forming key partnerships with Rahane and Iyer as Mumbai set a huge target for Vidarbha.

Vidarbha, requiring 528 runs to win the match, concluded the day at 10 for no loss. Mumbai, chasing their 42nd Ranji Trophy title, will aim to bowl out Vidarbha early in their pursuit of victory. Skipper Rahane, despite scoring 73 runs, missed out on a century in the tournament.

Dubey and Thakur were instrumental for Vidarbha with the ball, while Mumbai’s Shams Mulani added an unbeaten 50 to the scoreboard. Mumbai, with a legacy of 41 Ranji Trophy titles, are determined to secure another victory after their last title in the 2015-16 season.
